Main theme 2018: Societal disruption

11/02/2019

The main theme of the Fraud Film Festival 2018 is ‘Societal Disruption’. Half of all companies are affected by economic crime and although general statistics show a decrease in crime in the Netherlands, the number of fraud and cybercrime cases are increasing. Fraud is an especially disruptive crime, which weakens or abuses and undermines the very fabric of society. This leads to a deterioration of its foundations and / or the legitimacy of the system that protects it. This type of crime is often committed by criminal organizations and accompanied by violence, threats and intimidation.

Crime that undermines the fabric of our society affects us all. But how do we approach this problem as a society? By bringing together governmental organizations, private companies and the public and by working together!

Fraud Film Festival On Tour

28/06/2017

On Thursday, June 22, the Fraud Film Festival went on “On Tour”. During this inspiring evening, we showed the documentary ‘Abacus: Small Enough to Jail’ in Theater Film Cafe De Lieve Vrouw in Amersfoort. This documentary tells the story of the immigrant family Sung, owners of the Abacus bank in the New York Chinatown. The small bank is the only US bank who has been prosecuted for mortgage fraud during the economic crisis. A very interesting story and in our opinion, a successful and fun evening!

On the 5th of October, the Fraud Film Festival will, for the fourth consecutive year, hand out the Anti Fraud Award to a person or organisation that has made a special contribution to the prevention of fraud. Who is eligible? Anyone who has distinguished him or herself in the fight against fraud or who has taken an inspirational initiative in the past year! You can send your nomination to: info@fraudefilmfestival.nl. Don’t forget to include a motivation why you think that this candidate should win the Award. We are looking forward to receiving your nominations!
